10 Reasons Why the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Deserves More Respect | Rare Techy

[ad_1]

Ford reintroduced their famous Bronco nameplate in 2021 after a 25-year hiatus. One of the best off-roaders ever to come from an American manufacturer, the new Bronco had a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it did just that, and the Ford Bronco is one of the best heavy-duty SUVs on the market today, alongside respectable contenders like the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. But for those who want the off-road characteristics of the Bronco nameplate without having to drive it every day on muddy trails and off-road, Ford introduced the Bronco Sport, which is more of an urban version of the Bronco.

While the Bronco Sport doesn’t have the heavy-duty off-road equipment and credentials of its big Bronco brother, it offers plenty of off-road capability and features. Even as it straddles the line between the city-centric Bronco Sport and the off-road specialist Bronco, the Bronco Sport’s top trim is the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands. A highly remarkable pseudo-SUV, the Bronco Sport Badlands is packed with plenty of off-road-focused tech, making it one of the best off-road capable machines in its segment. Compared to the Bronco SUV, there are many who dismiss the Bronco Sport as just a larger urban crossover, but here are 10 reasons why the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands deserves more respect.

Ford has offered two different engines for the 2022 Bronco Sport lineup. While the 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 makes 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque, it’s limited by other trims.

On the other hand, the Bronco Sport Badlands gets its exclusive 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 powerplant that produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, a huge jump from the other options. The transmission remains the same and all Bronco Sport trims are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Because the lower conditions of the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport are equipped with less powerful engines, they are also quite a bit slower than the Badlands. The 1.5-liter engine propels the lower-trim ’22 Bronco Sport from zero to 60 mph in 8 seconds.

However, 250 horses armed with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine propels the Bronco Sport Badlands to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds, making it a sub-6-second vehicle and an off-road focused SUV. The Badlands Bronco Sport’s acceleration is definitely in sports car territory.
