Fox News Digital Auto Editor Gary Gastelu discusses Ford’s redesigned trucks for 2023.
Ford is recalling approximately 453,650 2021-2022 F-150 pickup trucks in the U.S. because the defect could cause their windshield wipers to fail.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the cause of the problem was determined to be a manufacturing issue.
The measure expands an earlier recall issued in the spring that covered F-150s built between January 8, 2020 and March 22, 2021, but now includes trucks built through August 8, 2022.
Not all F-150s are included as some were built with a different engine.

No accidents or injuries have been linked to the defect, but there have been 1,378 warranty reports linked to it worldwide.

Owners will be notified beginning January 3, 2023, but may also contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 to find out if their specific vehicle is covered by the recall.

It is estimated that only 1% of the involved trucks are defective.

Last week, Ford also repeated the 2004-2011 a Do Not Drive warning for the 2016 Ranger midsize pickup truck after the driver was killed in one that was not brought in to replace a defective Takata airbag inflator.

A company spokesperson said 97% of vehicles have been repaired and anyone who hasn’t had their cars repaired should stop driving their vehicle until it is.
