In the next installment of the series, Indiana Jones fans will be faced with a bit of the past as Harrison Ford has aged into his former self.

The 80-year-old actor will play the lead role in the as-yet-untitled film, which will be released next year.

Harrison first hits screens in what looks like Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark , filmed in 1981 and set in 1936, before rapidly aging to his current self in 1969 when the fifth installment is completed. .

This is the first time the actor has taken on the role of an archaeologist since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

She admitted that seeing her younger self was confusing and telling Empire Magazine: ‘It’s a bit spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it does.

Harrison also expressed his approval of how the CGI has been done to minimize his aging, adding, “It’s the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it.”

Overlaying the actor’s younger image is the montage used in the film’s post-production, the plot of which remains a carefully guarded secret.

It is believed to be set in the middle of the space race between the USSR and the US, and Indy is said to be fighting the Nazis.

Co-writer Jeff Butterworth revealed, “The simple fact is that the Moon landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis. The question is how ‘ex’ they are. And that gets Indy up his nose…”

Harrison is joined by a cast including Mads Mikkelson, who plays Voller, inspired by the real-life German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun, as well as Pheobe Waller-Bridge, Shaunette Renee Wilson and Antonio Banderas.

Speaking about reprising his role as Indy, Harrison admitted that it was nice to get some closure after playing it so many times.

He explained, “I just thought it would be nice to see where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey. When the script came along, I thought it gave me an opportunity to expand the character.

“Its shooting was difficult, long and arduous, but I am very satisfied with the film.”

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023.
