A mother from Pabna along with her son pass the SSC exams | Rare Techy
A mother along with her son passed the 2022 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in Sultanpur village of Khanmorich union under Bhangura upazila of Pabna.
The woman was identified as Monjuwara Khatoon, wife of Abdur Rahim, a van driver.
Monjuara’s education was stunted by her early marriage. After almost 20 years she resumed her studies and is in the process of teaching her two children. Family members credit her will power for her success in SSC exams.
Shamima Jaffer obtained a GPA of 4.93 in Monjuwara five from Tarash upazila of the district while her son Mehedi Hasan secured a GPA of 4.89 in the vocational section of BM School and College in Bhangura.
“My parents married me off 20 years ago because of poverty, so I could not study much. Watching my children learn made me interested in education again. Without the immense support of my husband, I could not have passed SSC,” said an elated Monjuara.
Monjuara added that she wants to study for a degree but is not sure if she can do it because of her family’s financial situation.
Monjuara’s son Mehedi was proud of his mother’s achievement, saying education is never too old.
Her husband Rahim was also overjoyed and vowed to support Monjuara’s education at all costs.
“Mehdi is a regular student of my institute. The news that he and his mother have cleared the SSC exams together is very happy,” said Mofazal Hussain, principal of Khanmorich BM School and College.
Bhangura’s Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nahid Hasan Khan said Monjuwara’s success story is important for the region and will inspire many women like her.
