Tata equipment manufacturer Voltas Ltd has entered into a technology licensing agreement with Denmark’s Vestfrost Solutions to develop, manufacture, sell and service pharmaceutical and vaccine storage equipment in India.

This includes advanced products such as refrigerators, vaccine boxes and ultra-small refrigerators, according to the press release.

Vestfrost Solutions is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of innovative and effective refrigerators in the bio-health and cold chain industry and provides the technology and know-how to manufacture the products to Voltas houses in India.

This partnership will benefit the brand strength and marketing breadth and distribution network of Voltas, the release said.

Voltas managing director Pradeep Bakshi said this is a logical product extension for the company. “The technological strength of Vestfrost combined with the manufacturing and distribution capabilities of Voltas, will help us to offer more and more diversified products to the Indian market,” he said.

Thomas Jørgensen, marketing director at Vestfrost Solutions, said that India’s strong growth in medical infrastructure is an important opportunity for our business.

Voltas has been the market leader in residential air conditioners in India for over a decade and is also a leader in commercial refrigeration products. It has also entered the home appliance segment such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, washing machines and dishwashers through joint ventures.
