Srinagar, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has said that the government has canceled the examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board and will conduct them again in November and the selection will be based on merit. .
Gone are the days of selling jobs on the roads and streets of Kashmir and Jammu, Sinha said while addressing a function at SKICC. We have canceled the examinations conducted by JKSSB on allegations of irregularities and ordered a CBI probe. Some arrests have been made and more are likely to be arrested,” he said. All the canceled exams will be re-conducted in November. He said that all the three canceled exams will be held in November.
Gone are the days of selling jobs on roads and streets, he said. “Now only merit will speak,” said LG Sinha, adding that 30,000 youths have been employed in the last three years.
He said that the fact that not everyone is getting a government job cannot be denied and that is why the government has started self-employment schemes. “Over 5 lakh youths have been given self-employment opportunities in the last three years,” he said.
He said that the government is running B2V programs under Mission Youth and in each program 20 youths will be given an opportunity to learn skill development. The LG said that J&K is witnessing a change and every individual has to play a role. He said that some people who have ruined the lives of thousands of people in J&K in the last 30 years have never seen their own children suffer in any way.
“Peace is essential for development. People should support the government to establish peace. Security forces cannot do this alone,” he said. He said that some people are trying to destroy the peace by killing innocent people to create an impression that whatever has been going on for the past 30 years is the way forward. “Let me put it on record that violence will get you nowhere. Kashmir is changing and tourists are coming in large numbers while record flights are flying from Kashmir and Jammu airports,” he said.
He said that anti-peace activists always try to disrupt the peace by killing innocent people and some make “unjust statements” leading to disruption of the peaceful atmosphere. He said that strict action will be taken against those who make statements that disturb the peaceful atmosphere. (KNO)
