Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will return to the regular schedule of examinations this academic session with finals in February and March. This will bring back the pace of education. However, it is a testing time for schools and students as they have to prepare for the post-Covid-19 standard board exams without any relaxation.

In fact, both the boards are expected to release the exam date sheet in November 2022 for the 2022-23 board exams. Unlike last year, this year both the central boards will conduct the annual exams. This will end the term 1 and term 2 system which was temporarily implemented due to covid-19.

According to the authorities, the CBSE board exams will be held from February 15. Though the CISCE dates have not been announced, the board has tentatively announced that the exams will be held in February/March.

Normally, the date sheets are released 45 days before the exam, but this time it may be released earlier. Timetables will be available on the board’s official websites cbse.nic.in or cbse.gov.in for CBSE 10th and 12th exams and cisce.org for ICSE and ISC students.

Sample papers out: 100% back to syllabus after 2 years

CBSE and CISCE Board Exams 2023 will be conducted for 80 marks and 20 percent marks for internal assessments or practical. Both the boards have already released the sample papers, said Kanchan Tare, Chairperson, Indore Sahodaya Complex, CBSE Schools.

CBSE has also changed the exam pattern. “There will be more internal choices, making the exams more competency-based and less cramming-based,” Tare said.

She added that the board syllabus has also been revised. After conducting the 10th and 12th exams on a reduced syllabus for two years, CBSE will revert to 100 per cent syllabus. Board will go back to ‘rational’ syllabus.

Internal Exams from 1st January

CBSE Practical Examinations, Project or Internal Assessment for the session 2022-23 are scheduled from January 1. While some schools are closed for winter break, most schools plan to hold internals in the first week itself. To avoid overcrowding and social distancing, schools will call students into subgroups of 10 students each as per CBSE guidelines.

Siddharth Singh, principal, Emerald Heights International School, Indore, said if we finish internals earlier, it will be more convenient for students and schools as students can prepare for written exams.

He added that the cold in Indore is usually tolerable for school students. “Most of our students go to the US for higher studies, so most of them are comfortable here in winter,” said Singh.
