CK Agu, the lawyer of Federal University student Aminu Adamu, who was arrested after criticizing First Lady Aisha Buhari on Twitter, has appealed for bail for his client to commence his final exams on December 5.
Aminu was arrested in the house for a comment he posted on his Twitter handle that read “Mama feeds fat with poor people’s money”.
The uncle says Aminu was taken to the presidential villa and beaten before being remanded to Suleja Prison in Niger State.
But the student’s lawyer told BBC Hausa that his client was arraigned in Abuja and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Agu said Aminu had been requested to be granted bail since November 25 but was denied.
“Even in yesterday’s court session, we informed the judge that we requested the police to grant Aminu bail on time but they did not comment weather they will release him or not.
“Therefore, we have requested the court to grant bail on the grounds of ill-health and begin the examination on December 5. Now the court has ordered the police to produce the bail application filed so that the court can take action on the request today or tomorrow,” he said.
