Artists and crafters workshops throughout the Brandywine Valley have been running throughout the year to make sure they’re ready to celebrate the holidays in style! Famous Brandywine Railroad returns to Brandywine River Art Museum until January 8th for his fiftieth year! For more information on the history of the exhibit, see this article: “50 Years of Wow! On the Brandywine Railroad.” Fragile Earth: The Scientific Impulse in Contemporary Art can be seen in two galleries until January 8. This exhibition explores the fragility of the environment and our relationship with it through works by Mark Dion, Courtney Mattison and others. It includes a site-specific installation and commissioned mural related to the native flora and fauna of the Brandywine Valley. The Christkindlmarkt is back at Chester County Art Society Friday, December 2n.d from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 3st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 40 stalls showcase art, ceramics, jewelry, homewares and more. Food and live music will also be available. Then $300 and under members show begins with an opening reception on Thursday, December 8th from 17:00 to 19:00 and can be viewed until January 3st. A miracle Christmas time is exhibited at Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library this season! This year, the festive decor will be joined by a new toy train display presented by the Standard Gage Module Association, along with a large-scale gingerbread version of the Winterthur mansion complete with trees inspired by those seen in the White House during the Kennedy years. It is related to the current exhibition, Jacqueline Kennedy and HF du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House.
