As Brock nears the end of its fall semester, students are making preparations to ensure they are ready for the upcoming exam period. For many, the new obstacle period can be worrisome at first glance. However, with proper knowledge about this period and some helpful tips and tricks, students can excel in their exams and ultimately look forward to the upcoming holidays.

This semester, the examination period will begin on December 8 and last until December 21. Students can access their exam through their Broke portal where they can also see any conflicts they may have with their schedule. Students can also check their exam slots by visiting the schedule on Broke Timetable page.

If a student finds that two or more exams are scheduled in the same time frame, they can resolve their conflict by emailing exams@brocku.ca. Students are requested to view their exam schedules to report the conflict and resolve it as soon as possible due to the possibility of discovering a conflict.

Due to the two-week window of the exam period, most students will find reasonable breaks between each of their exams, ranging from a one-day break to a week between exams. More. This break between exams allows students enough study time to properly prepare for their next upcoming exam.

As the examination period begins two days after the last day of classes, after the make-up day for classes missed due to National Truth and Reconciliation Day, students should ensure to refer to their schedule to plan their preparation time accordingly. . To do so, students should be sure to revise their course content and any exam-related study guides and information provided by their instructor.

Students should arrive at school at least 10 minutes before their exam, allowing enough time to write the exam before the scheduled time. Since most exams are held in Ian Beddis Gymnasium and Bob Davis Gymnasium – Brock’s two largest gyms with high capacity – students should consider arriving early for their exams to secure a spot in line. The pre-exam line ups tend to be huge as exams for many courses are likely to be held at the same time and at the same place.

When arriving at Brock for their scheduled exams, students should be sure to bring the correct materials for their test. Students must be sure to bring their Brock Student ID card and place it at their assigned desks for verification by a proctor.

The only other materials allowed on the examination table are pencils, pens, erasers, answer books and other materials approved by the instructor of the course. Only unlabeled clean water bottles are permitted food or drink at the examination venue. Students should ensure to wear mask for their exam.

Students should not bring any prohibited items such as books, bags and backpacks. They will also be asked to place items such as coats, keys or purses under their desk chair. Cell phones and electronic devices are prohibited and will be asked to be placed under desks and chairs.

Students found in possession of electronic devices during an exam may be subject to a breach of academic integrity.

By following each step carefully and studying enough for their exams, students should find themselves well prepared for their exams.
