Fearless Final Exam Guide | Rare Techy

For many students, final exams mean stress, cramming and sleepless nights. Although there is a light at the end of the tunnel, getting there requires a tremendous amount of work. Fortunately, for first-year students, OC’s upperclassmen have plenty of advice on how to successfully pass final exams.
“It’s hard to find motivation during the last month of the semester, but it’s important to regain focus knowing that exam and project deadlines are approaching,” junior Allison Stevens said. Stevens recommends self-care and getting work done ahead of time as good strategies for acing finals.
“Set aside time for yourself mentally and physically to make a checklist of your work. Don’t wait until the week before you start your papers, projects, presentations, and studies.
Savannah Baker, Sr., listed removing distractions as top tips for getting important tasks done.
“Put your phone in another room or turn it off. It’s not fun, but sometimes it’s necessary. Rewarding myself for getting things done can be helpful…so I can watch a YouTube video, eat a snack, or check social media after I’ve written three pages, but not before I’ve written three pages,” Baker said.
According to junior Tonya Tepin, professors are another helpful resource for getting through the final weeks of the semester.
“Start talking to your professors a few weeks in advance [exams]. Solve the puzzles and see what you can do to get the best grade you can. You’ll be surprised how much your professors are willing to help you get your grades where you want them to be,” Tepin said.
Finals begin the week after Thanksgiving, Tuesday, November 29th through Friday, December 2nd. No classes on Monday, November 28. You can find the official final exam schedule below or at this link. Here.
