More than 450,000 Ford F-150 models have been recalled in the United States due to a wiper problem.
A notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that affected 2021-2022 Ford F-150 models have a wiper motor that may not work. According to Ford, this can happen due to damage to the wiper integrated circuit board caused by high transient voltage spikes and poor quality electrical terminals in the wiper motor. This may mean that the front wipers are not working or are working poorly.

Affected 2022 Ford F-150 models were manufactured between March 23, 2021 and August 8, 2022. A total of 453,650 vehicles are affected by the recall. However, F-150 models built at the Dearborn Truck Plant between May 3, 2021 and September 10, 2021 are excluded from the recall because they were built with a different wiper motor due to the microchip shortage experienced at that time.
Ford will begin notifying both dealers and owners of the affected models between January 3 and January 6, 2023. Owners are asked to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the wiper motor replaced free of charge. Ford will also reimburse owners who have previously paid to fix the problem.
To fix the problem, technicians simply remove the wiper motor and replace it with a motor manufactured after August 1, 2022.
