Haryana discoms have entered into two power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 712 MW each with Adani Power Limited, both dated August 7, 2008, with a tariff of Rs 2.94 per unit for 25 years, for the procurement of contract capacity of 1,424 MW. in the aggregate of the Mundra power project in Gujarat.
“APL has stopped power supply since September 2021 because it is incurring losses due to higher operational costs due to increased levels of imported coal. coal costs,” the government statement said.
“Considering the various options available for it and to ensure availability of power at the most reasonable cost, the Haryana DISCOMs discussed and understood the following points and sought the approval of the cabinet in this regard,” the statement said.
Approval has been given to “hand over 224 MW of imported coal capacity and retain a total capacity of 1,200 MW in the periphery of Haryana for domestic coal generation only”. The rest will be imported based on coal, which if scheduled, will be paid for with coal import charges and related charges.
