The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), on Thursday, November 24, announced changes to the 2023 teacher examinations.
In a statement, the council revealed that the changes affected seven teacher education examinations, including the Advanced Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE), Advanced Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDECTE) and Certificate in Primary Teacher Education (PTE). previous years.
Other exams are Teacher Certificate for Adult Education (TCAE), Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Diploma in Special Needs Education (SNE), Diploma and Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).
In the proposal, all candidates previously referred for ECDE (Certificate and Diploma Level), PTE, TCAE, DTE and SNE examinations are eligible to register for the referred subject(s) during the registration period for Teacher Education Examinations 2023.

Candidates referred in the Primary Teacher Education (PTE) examination will be allowed to re-write the last referred papers in March and April 2023.
After that, the examination council revealed that it intends to cancel the examination.
Candidates previously referred for ECDE examinations (Certificate and Diploma level) will be later phased out and allowed to re-write for the last time in March and April 2025.
Teachers are instructed to upload coursework marks of DTE and SNE exams between 6th and 17th March 2023.
Principals, sub-county elders and continuing education officers of teacher training colleges have asked candidates to follow all instructions presented in the upcoming examinations.
The calendar is designed to match the 2023 education calendar released by the Ministry of Education.
Term one will commence between January 23, 2023 and run for 13 weeks until April 21, 2023. The second term will commence on 8th May 2023 for 13 weeks ending on 11th August 2023.
Students will resume the third term from August 28 to November 3, 2023 to pave the way for the National Examinations to be held on November 6, 2023.
