Ministry of Education allows CAIE to conduct O and A level examinations directly in schools | Rare Techy

The Federal Ministry of Education has approved Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) to conduct O and A level examinations directly in schools in Pakistan. .

These exams will be conducted in 10 schools in Pakistan next year in May/June 2023. This was approved in a meeting chaired by Federal Additional Secretary Education Secretary Wasim Ajmal on Wednesday.

In the meeting, it was asked when the exam will be conducted directly in schools from Cambridge. It was also observed that students should get the benefit of 30 to 50 per cent concession in examination fees if examination centers are not set up in five-star hotels.

It was said in the meeting that examination centers in schools should be transparent and supervisors and invigilators should be from outside.

Uzma Yusuf, head of Cambridge in Pakistan, wrote to IBCC officials that Cambridge Assessment is working in collaboration with the British Council to manage operations in Pakistan. However, in other parts of the world, Cambridge works directly with schools, along with some associates such as the British Council, to deliver its qualifications. Worldwide, 30 per cent of exam entries come through the British Council and 70 per cent through direct sampling or other associates.

They said they aim to move towards the same model of working directly with some schools in Pakistan to deliver our exams. They said they plan to introduce the model with a pilot of 10 schools across Pakistan, under which the first exams will be distributed in May/June 2023.
