Nyeri girl bravely takes KCSE exam after second brain surgery to remove tumour | Rare Techy

A girl from a humble background in Nyeri, Nyeri County has braved cancer treatment to sit her exams despite brain surgery in September 2022.

Eighteen-year-old Grace Muthoni was diagnosed with cancer and underwent the first surgery to remove a tumor from her brain at Kenyatta National Hospital in 2019.

However, in a Facebook post by human rights activist Ngeri wa Migwi, the tumor returned in 2022 and on September 7 she underwent another surgery to remove the tumor.

“Grace had a brain tumor and she underwent surgery in 2019 and as her mother is single she could not stay in Nairobi after the first surgery for follow-up tests and examinations,” Migwi said.

It is okay that doctors came to Nyeri to check on Grace among other patients at the General Hospital… Of course they missed some sessions,” she added.

According to Migwi, doctors have advised Muthoni to go for 30 sessions of radiotherapy to ensure that the tumor is completely gone and she is now at the Texas Cancer Centre.

Grace is a fighter, she was nauseous last week from radiology, but she says she has to do her KCSE because she missed 2021 because of the first surgery.

Anyway, Mom comes in and we talk, but I see her smile strained and forced, she looks weighed down and confused. She sees her sick baby once a week…and it affects you! Of course she should reduce her Kibarua time, but they need to eat!
