Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will give weightage and extra marks in the next recruitment exam to short-term health workers engaged during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, thousands of short-term health workers such as Nursing Officers, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Laboratory Technicians, MPHWs (M/Fs) were engaged at District Headquarters Hospitals, Medical College Hospitals and Covid Care Centers across the state.

Considering the contribution of these short-term healthcare workers during the pandemic, the government, on the directives of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, instituted the Odisha Grant on marks in recruitment examinations in favor of short-term Covid-19 healthcare. Labor Rules-2022,” an official statement said.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit said as per the rules, short-term Covid-19 health workers engaged for a minimum period of three months will be allowed weightage of 5 per cent additional marks in the next recruitment examination. OSSSC conducted for the posts of Nursing Officers, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Laboratory Technicians and Multipurpose Healthcare Workers. This will be a one-time measurement.

These recruitment exam aspirants commented that thousands of candidates for these posts will benefit from it. The short-term Covid-19 workers thanked the Chief Minister and the government for this decision.
