Instead of 11 papers starting from the academic year 2022-2023, students appearing for the SSC public examinations in the state will henceforth appear for only six papers. The state government on Monday ordered the concerned departments to introduce the six-paper pattern in line with the plan to introduce the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus and prepare students for the 2024-25 CBSE public examinations.

Special Chief Secretary to Govt. (School Education) B. Rajshekhar issued a government order in this regard. According to the order, 11 paper pattern was introduced under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern in the academic year 2016-17 and seven paper pattern was implemented in the examinations conducted in 2021 and 2022 due to Covid-19. 19 Epidemic.

A study by the AP State Council of Educational Research and Training found that there is no need to extensively test the student in the common examination as one undergoes four formative tests and two terminal tests in a year, the order said. The decision to introduce the six-paper pattern is in view of the government’s policy of SCERT prescribing an exam with six or seven papers and affiliating government schools with CBSE and preparing the first batch of students to appear for the CBSE public examination in 2024-25. In the new pattern, physical science and biological science will be in the same paper, answer sheets will be issued separately, and languages ​​and non-languages ​​will be assessed using a single question paper.

Teachers unions welcomed the government’s decision. Municipal Teachers Federation President S. Ramakrishna said that the six-paper pattern will benefit the students and ease their burden.
