Pallisa | S4 candidate | dying
John Katapao, the father of Kibale Senior Secondary School S4 candidate Florence Adong, 19, who passed away at Pallisa General Hospital, cannot contain his grief.
Adong, who died on November 1, 2022, was a resident of Okoito village in Opwatteta sub-county, Pallisa. She is taking her final O’level assessment and has English language, history, agriculture and Ateso language left to complete her exams.
According to Katapao, Adongo suffered from anemia since the last academic term.
“Adongo has undergone blood transfusions every time he falls ill. It is sad that she died despite spending a lot of money on her treatment. “She dreamed of becoming a doctor,” Katapao said sadly.
He ran from school to the hospital
The director of school studies, Joseph Osako, said the deceased was taken to the hospital for medical attention but later died.
“As a school, we teachers and learners are in trying moments because Adong is a good learner with good sense of humor and team work. “We are calling for an urgent counseling meeting aimed at strengthening candidates who still have papers,” Osako said.
Appreciated by classmates
Adong’s colleagues at Kibale Secondary School will also miss her.
“I am shocked by the death of my good friend. I don’t do well in English, but she can support me,” Jane Akello said.
Another classmate, Gilbert Ojulong, said Adong’s illness was noticed during the second team.
“Since the last period, she has been struggling with illness as she always complains of body pain and lack of appetite,” Ojulong said.
Examinations
The Uganda National Examinations Board UCE evaluation started on October 14 and will run until November 18, 2022.
