‘Shrinking’ Teaser: Harrison Ford in Comedy From ‘Ted Lasso’ Creators | Rare Techy

The “Ted Lasso” co-creator show debuts on January 27.

It took a long time for Harrison Ford to land a major TV role, and in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Shrinking,” he doesn’t seem too happy about it. In the minute-long clip, which features the cast of the upcoming comedy, a trampoline and no dialogue, Ford shoots his co-star Jason Segel a frustrated eyebrow before walking away.

It’s the perfect reaction to Star Wars and the legend of Indiana Jones, setting up an intriguing new series from the creators of Ted Lasso. Along with the trampoline clip and some first-look images (all below), the streamer also revealed a January 27th release date. In the preview, Segel and the series’ supporting cast are jumping on a trampoline between the tag lines: “Sometimes you have to break to make a breakthrough.”

Don’t let the title fool you: Ford isn’t getting any shorter, instead he’s playing a therapist — rather a shrink — alongside Segel. Segel’s character is a grieving therapist who, ignoring his own training and ethics, begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks, causing major changes in their lives. Ford plays another doctor described as a “blue-collar shrink” who is recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, forcing him out of his physical and emotional comfort zone as he is forced to wrestle with his estranged family and friends.

“Ted Lasso” co-creator Bill Lawrence created “Shrinking” with Segel and “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein. All three are executive producers along with Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The series also stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell.

The new series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Lawrence under an overall deal, as well as Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel and Goldstein wrote the first episode, which was directed by Ponsoldt.

“Shrinking” is a ten-episode comedy, and Apple will drop the first two episodes on January 27, followed by a new episode every Friday.

“Downsizing” isn’t Ford’s only foray into the small screen. He also stars alongside Helen Mirren in the upcoming “Yellowstone” prequel series “1923,” which also released its first trailer over the weekend.
