For the last two academic years, the state government had reduced the number of papers from 11 to six due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last academic year, class 10 exams were conducted in six papers and it has been decided to continue with the same pattern this academic year.
Meanwhile, the school education department has sent a directive to the government to continue with only six papers instead of changing it to 11 papers for the future SSC public examinations. Officials said the proposal has received government approval and orders are expected to be issued soon.
The school education department’s move comes at a time when several states and the Central Board of Secondary Education are conducting Class 10 exams in six subjects.
