A solid performance on a true pair of headphones

Sony makes some of the best wireless phones on the market, but they also come at a price. The very attractive Sony WH-1000XM5 offers ANC and sound quality, but expect it to drop its $400 price tag. Not everyone has that kind of budget to spend on headphones, though. As part of its Black Friday deal, Best Buy is offering the excellent Sony WH-CH710N for just $68—$82 more than its $150 MSRP and the lowest price the headphones have ever been available.

Despite its premium price, the Sony WH-CH710N features strong noise cancellation. It’s not as good as the Bose Noise Canceling 700, but it easily blocks out wind noise from rain, traffic, wind, and more. High-pitched noises and other unusual sounds are not completely blocked but are muffled to reduce the impact. .

A dedicated button on the left ear cup lets you quickly switch between noise-cancelling and noise-cancelling modes. You get physical buttons to control volume levels and activate Google Assistant or Alexa.

In terms of sound quality, the CH710N will impress you with its booming bass. The headphones sound great in isolation, but as we saw in our review, the tones and high frequencies don’t sound amazing.

Battery life is another strong suit of the CH710N. They can stay up to 35 hours on Bluetooth and cancel the noise. You can extend the working time to 50 hours on the 3.5mm connection. A charge on the USB-C port takes about seven hours, but a 10-minute peak is enough for an hour’s run. There’s no Quick Pairing support, but the headphones have NFC, so you can pair your Android phone with a tap.

The best audio deals for Black Friday include a number of cheap wireless headphones that fall to record low prices. But at just $68, it’s hard to beat the value the Sony WH-CH710N provides.
