Leo Aguilar scored the lone goal in District 1-4A action Tuesday afternoon as Spring-Ford knocked off No. 3 Downingtown East. With the win, the 10th-ranked Rams (14-3-4) clinched a spot in the PIAA Class 4A tournament.
They host No. 13 Central Bucks East, coming off a 1-0 win over Central Bucks South, for the fifth spot Friday at a time to be determined.
FIELD HOCKEY
Methacton 2, Garnet Valley 0
The Warriors clinched a spot in the PIAA Class 3A tournament with a District 1-3A home opener Tuesday night. Fifth-seeded Methacton (18-4) hosts No. 7 Central Bucks West, a 1-0 winner over Souderton, in the fifth-place game on Friday.
Upper Perkiomen 2, Bishop Shanahan 0
Ashlyn Gatto scored the game-winner on an assist from Julia Traynor and the Upper Perkiomen stayed in contention for a PIAA tournament berth in a District 1-2A game on Tuesday.
On Friday at 4 p.m., No. 5 seed Upper Perk will host No. 10 Merion Mercy in the district’s fifth-place game, with the winner earning a PIAA tournament berth.
