JOHANNESBURG – The Mpumalanga Department of Education has said it is expecting an incident-free matric examination period.

Department spokesperson Gerald Sambo said teachers did everything they could to prepare students as they worked hard for months to prepare for this year’s Grade 12 exams.
“MEC Bonakele Majuba highlighted that the department is encouraged by today’s progress and urged candidates to do their best as teachers have done everything humanly possible to prepare them for these exams.
“MEC Majuba encourages all candidates to appreciate the importance of these exams and work hard to make their parents and the community of Mpumalanga proud,” he said.
Teachers’ union SADTU has highlighted load shedding as a hindrance to these exams.
The Education MEC is expected to visit iKhayalami Secondary School in Siatutuka Township on Monday.

Motshega and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chilone are expected to observe the commencement of the final National Senior Certificate examinations in Tshwane.
Matriculation candidates will be at Nelmapius Secondary School in Mamelodi when they sit for their first major paper on Monday.
Meanwhile, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has announced that examinations are ready to begin.
Basic Education Deputy Minister Regina Muele and KZN MEC for Education, Mbali Frazer will attend Ogwini Comprehensive High School on Monday.
“We are now ready to conduct the 2022 matric exams, starting with the biggest paper, English Paper 1, with 198 000 candidates,” said provincial education spokesperson Musi Mahlambi.
