Ford has just launched another special edition of its F-150 pickup truck for 2023. This time, Ford is offering something more accessible instead of expensive extras for luxury equipment. The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler starts as an XL pickup and then adds a host of off-road features and accessories, new graphics and special interior accents.

Using the F-150 XL 4×4 as the base, Ford adds parts from the FX4 package to the truck. This includes skid plates to help protect the undercarriage from terrain damage. It also comes with shocks tuned for off-road use and hill descent control for throttle control and braking on steep hills on the trail. Finally, it adds an electronic locking differential in the rear to help the truck maintain traction on slippery surfaces.

For the Rattler, Ford adds special 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires that are better suited for off-road driving. Helping the F-150 Rattler stand out, Ford has added a new dual exhaust system that it says delivers a “bold sound.” Buyers also get F-150 Rattler badging on the fender vents, which feature a rattlesnake-inspired graphic on the outside of the truck.

In addition to the new hardware, Ford has also changed the interior, using Onyx seats with brushed bronze accents and stitching to match the Rattler’s dash trim. Ford calls it “desert-inspired.” The truck can be painted in eight colors, including Antimatter Blue and Rapid Red.

Starting with the pickup’s XL trim level should help keep pricing at the lower end of the F-150 lineup, though Ford hasn’t released those numbers yet. The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler goes on sale this fall.
