Ford Australia has revealed a new Platinum trim for the Ranger, which sits between the Wildtrack and Raptor and offers more premium looks and features. Like the closely related Ford Everest Platinum SUV, the pickup truck comes with fairly generous standard equipment and is only offered with the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel.
The new trim is distinguished by a visually unique chrome grille, platinum lettering on the hood, standard Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, silk chrome accents and a version-specific Equinox Bronze exterior shade available as an option. There are also some practical features, such as Ford’s new flexible rack system with folding roof racks and a patented sliding load frame, a power blind and a tailgate with damped gas struts.

Inside, we find many first-class features for this segment, including quilted leather upholstery, faux wood accents on the dashboard, a heated steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats with 10-way power adjustment and driver memory functions. .
The dashboard has an enclosed shelf and an upper glove box that is distinct from smaller Ford Ranger trims. Additionally, the Platinum emblem can be found on the glove box, seats and floor mats. Technologically, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen are also standard, along with a B&O premium sound system.
The pickup is only offered with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine that produces 247 hp (184 kW / 250 hp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and Ford’s electronically controlled full-time all-wheel drive system.
The 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum is available to order in Australia in full trim for A$76,990 (US$51,927), with first deliveries expected in May 2023. That means it’s AU$5,800 (US$3,992) more expensive than the Ranger Wildtrack. same engine/transmission combination.
