Election Supervisor Mohammad Saneem said that the concerned authorities will give notification about the exams on the election day.

“The election day will be a public holiday and there will be timely announcements from the concerned authorities in that area,” he said.

Questions have been raised about the possibility of postponing the national exams that were to be held on election day.

This is because many schools will serve as polling stations on election day.

Prime Minister Vorek Bainimarama yesterday advised President Ratu William Katoniwere that the general election will be held on December 14.

On this day, Year 8 students are expected to sit for two papers: Mathematics and a local language option (Wosa Vaka-Viti, Hindi, Urdu, Rotuman) and Year 12 students have Home Economics and History.

  • Queries sent to Education Minister Pramila Kumar yesterday on the matter remained unanswered at the time of going to print.
