The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations commenced today, November 21, 2022, without any notable incidents.
“UACE has started successfully and candidates across the country are writing their first papers: Economics and Chemistry Practical,” UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba said in a statement today, November 21, 2022.
97,890 candidates are appearing for the exam in 2,255 examination centers across the country. Out of these 57,177 (58%) candidates are male.
Musamba said the government is sponsoring a total of 17,319 candidates under the Universal Post O Level Education Programme.
Integrity and Safety in Examination Conduct: Examinations are held on the premise that the health and safety of learners is a shared responsibility.
On Sunday, November 20, UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo appealed to S6 candidates to abide by the regulations of their schools and be disciplined during the examination.
He warned that a student cannot be exempted from following school rules.
“UNEB will not interfere with or sympathize with a candidate where he is subject to disciplinary proceedings for indiscipline,” he said.
Odongo encouraged the candidates to remain calm, confident, follow instructions and pray for divine intervention and guidance while sitting for the examination.
