The number of students to sit for the Uganda Business Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) has doubled.

From Monday, November 21, 87,800 candidates will sit for the Technical and Vocational Work Education Training (TVET) assessment and examination from 601 examination centers across the country, said the Executive Secretary of UBTEB, Onesmas Oyesigye.

Oyesigye said a total of 35,000 people took the same test in June and this time the number has doubled.

He attributed the increase to the modularized TVET evaluation that the board started implementing last year. Module assessment provides flexibility and allows students to learn.

UBTEB’s Vocational Education Manager Jaliya Nasasa said that no academic minimum qualification is required for one to enroll for the module evaluation, so even school dropouts return to get the certificate.

It is in this context that the board appointed additional scouts to conduct the examination.
