The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has released the road map for the upcoming Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, briefing candidates on Friday.

As per the road map, candidates will start the exam officially on Monday next week with Economics and Chemistry Paper 3 and end on December 9.

A total of 97,890 students have registered to appear for the exam as compared to 98,392 students who appeared for the same exam in 2020.

Addressing journalists in Nagore, Kampala yesterday, UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule urged head teachers to thoroughly explain the rules and regulations of the examination to candidates.

“For at least two hours, they (principals) should give guidance and warn them (candidates) against actions that may cause them irregularities or disqualify them from conducting the examination,” Ms Kalule said.

She also warned that anyone involved in examination malpractices would face severe punishment.

Ms Kalule also disclosed that the Uganda Certificate of Education examinations, which have entered the fifth week, will end this week.

She added that the cases of examination irregularities reported during the primary leave examination are still being investigated and the suspects will be charged under the UNEB Act, 2021.

Ms Kalule said the board has requested the District Inspector of Schools to give a full report on what happened, regarding the 27 candidates at St. Christine Primary School in Kakumiro district who turned up an hour after the mathematics paper started.

She said this would enable the UNEB management to detect the situation where the candidates failed to write the paper.
