DOHA, Qatar — The U.S. men’s national team will play for World Cup elimination tonight against Iran in Tuesday’s Group B final (2 p.m., FOX).
The Americans will clinch a spot in the World Cup round of 16 with a win, but anything less than a win will see the Americans head home early. The Iranians will clinch a place in the knockout stages with a win, but can also progress with a draw if England lose or draw with Wales, and will look to repeat their 1998 World Cup triumph when they face favorite Americans.
Gregg Berhalter made just two changes from the line-up that started against England, with Cameron Carter-Vickers set to make his World Cup debut in place of Walker Zimmerman, while Josh Sargent returns to the starting line-up after missing out on the group stage. – the opening round against Wales.
