V6 wait times for Ford Ranger Raptor and Wildtrak will be extended by a year | Rare Techy


Those who want a V6-powered Ranger Raptor or Wildtrak will have to wait about a year, while those who want a Ranger Sport V6 will get theirs much sooner.

Buyers can be waiting more than a year for the new 2023 Ford Ranger Wildtrak or Ranger Raptor.

Ford has announced that wait times for the V6-powered Ranger Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor have reached the fourth quarter of 2023 (October to December inclusive), meaning those who order today could be waiting 11 to 13 months for delivery.

The company warns that Ranger pricing and specifications may also change during that time.

“Interest in the next-generation Ranger Wildtrak V6 has been extremely positive and we are now accepting orders for the 2023 vehicles,” the automaker says on its website.

“If you place your order today, your vehicle may not arrive until Q4 2023 and may vary in price and/or specifications.”

Earlier this month, Ford Australia estimated waiting times for Raptor and Wildtrak V6 ute variants at seven months after more production allocations were secured from its Thai plant.

Before that, the waiting time was eight to nine months.

Now, the brand’s latest estimate has risen again to around a year, matching the wait times for its V6-powered SUVs, the Everest Sport and Everest Platinum.

Assuming Ford has updated its website in time, the dramatic change in wait times for the Ranger ute could indicate the automaker is receiving roughly a month’s worth of orders each week — or about 1,000 orders each day, based on Ford’s reported current deliveries. .

Despite the revised wait times, Ford says the Ranger Sport V6 and Ranger XLT cab-chassis V6 could be delivered as early as March 2023 if ordered today — a four-month wait, or less than half that of the Raptor or Wildtrak V6. in best case.

Those who can’t wait can take immediate delivery of the Ranger Wildtrak, Sport and XLT variants, which are powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine – the same engine fitted to the previous-generation Ranger Raptor.
