The trailer for the series, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as Cara and Jacon Dutton, opens with a shot of Mirren being approached by Timothy Dalton’s Donald Whitfield, who announces that he has moved into their ranch.
“This is Yellowstone, and you have no rights here,” he says. Soon after, Ford approaches the town’s sheriff to start a standoff with Whitfield, who is partnered with Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) Banner Creighton. Later in the video, Mirren threatens Flynn, saying, “Men kill quickly – with a bullet or a noose – but your fight is with me, and I kill much slower.”
During the minute and a half trailer, Mirren and Ford fiercely defend their home against Whitfield, who wants to own the entire valley. “You attack my family, that’s the last thing you do,” Ford says.
According to Paramount+ in 1923 introduces a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Ford and Mirren’s characters. It explores the “20. beginning of the 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression plague the mountains of the West and the Duttons who call it home.”
The series marks her first major television role Indiana Jones and Star Wars star, but not Mirren, whose previous TV credits include The prime suspect and HBO Catherine the Great.
The Yellowstone Taylor Sheridan’s prequel also stars Darren Mann (Animal kingdom), Michelle Randolph (Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big sky) and Aminah Nieves (Blueberry).
in 1923 premiering simultaneously on the Paramount Network and Paramount+ on December 18.
